CHALLENGE #19

Our challenge this month is all about

ARCHITECTURE

We would like you to be inspired by this building.
The architecture, shapes, materials and the colours used all work together to give it is appeal. Combine with arches, columns and scallops (whatever you can take from it) and use it noticeably in your project. (Note: this is not a colour challenge - but by all means use the colour if it appeals!!)

Here are the girls inspirational interpretations
Check their blogs to see further close-ups and details

INTRODUCING OUR NEW SPONSOR AND GUEST TEAM DESIGN MEMBER

With great pleasure and much eye candy in her wonderful store....
we get to meet and work with the lovely

Rae

of

Rae Cooper is the owner of Scrap Matrix

A born and bred country girl from Western Australia with 3 sisters, craft and that sort of thing was part and parcel of what ‘5’ girl family do, poor Dad!!

Life’s journeys take us in many directions before we commence what is truly a passion.

Through the inspiration and support from all my family, I secured a local Country supermarket to start my dream of a small Scrapbooking outlet. Luckily the owner was a nice guy!!

Relocating from Western Australia to the Northern Territory opportunities combined with a passion for paper crafts saw the creation of Scrap Matrix. An online store that provides an extensive range of products including German Scrap - European embossed die-cuts, Metal embellishments, handmade Beaded Trim exclusive to Scrap Matrix and so much more.

A new range to the site is “Out There Chippy’ laser cut designs that should send you wild with creative ideas.

Especially designed for the ‘Let’s Get Shabby Challenge’ is some architectural miniature shadow boxes being the first release for ‘Out There Chippy’ with lots more to come in early January 2011. The first 25 customers who place an order will receive a gorgeous shadow box free so you create to your heart’s content!

SHABBY CHRISTMAS TREE TUTORIAL

Our monthly shabby tutorial is back after a short break and this month our new Shabby Girl Olga is showing us how she has created this gorgoeus mini Christmas tree.

Step 1

Make a sketch of the tree. You will need another tree made with the same pattern but smaller. For the second fir tree I simply outlined the first pattern indenting a little bit.

Step 2

Trace and cut out both trees onto cardboard.

Step 3

Cover the smaller tree with a thick layer of crackle paint. Don't be afraid to make the layer really thick as the more paint you apply the better the crackles will be and leave to dry.

Step 4

Paint the bigger tree with acrylic paint. No need to paint the middle of the tree as it won't be visible any way. When it dries - add some bling. I used Stickles "Star Dust"

Step 5

When dry layer the two trees with 3d mounting tape.

Step 6

Your tree is now finished and ready to embellish.

Hope you enjoyed Olga's tutorial. If you try this out please link it back to this post so that the Shabby Girls can pop in and have a look and if you check the side bar we have got links to all our past tutorials if you need some more shabby inspiration.

Don't forget to check out our Christmas challenge and Tallulah Belles our sponsor this month.

Have you put in your guesses as to who made which cards?

You can check out the rak photo's here in this post.
