Deb's Step by Step........

Here is another art journal page
that I have created from this month's

And a quick step by step to show how it came about.....

Firstly my patterned paper looked like this and I could see diamonds jumping out at me.....

I've put a thin coat of white gesso over a section of the paper that was torn to roughly fit one side of my journal page.  Then cut out some random diamond shapes. The edges of the cut outs and the edges of where they were cut from were outlined in different coloured oil pastels and rubbed to blend.
From the left over unaltered paper I've cut 4 diamonds, the same size and then outlined all the diamond's edges in black.

a bit closer of the oil pastels around the cut out sections..............

To prepare the base of the journal page,  I've scraped black and turquoise paints over the entire double page, stamped diamonds in white gesso and randomly sprayed with green and pink mists.

The altered pattern paper was glued on the left and the 4 diamonds cut from the unaltered section were placed randomly on it.   On the right, I've placed the cut out pieces in a similar pattern to that of the cut out side.

The tree was drawn and painted on deli paper, cut and added to the pages and then came the doodling in white and black pens, some stamping on the patterned paper and some paint splatters and finally the quote was added to cover the two pages.

Challenge #62

Alter/change (in an ARTY way) the pattern on  patterned paper or fabric. Use some/all/tiny piece of your original paper/fabric in your project.   We need two photos of original paper before altering and your finished project.

The design team have given some great and varied ideas!

Mandy used this older MME paper, removing the patterned part of the paper and underlying it with October Afternoons 'Public Library' Biography paper which led to this whole rearrangement:

Jan has used some of her floral fabric in its original form for the background of her fabric journal page and then cut out two of the flowers from her fabric and made them into padded embellishments to decorate her fabric journal cover

Deb

Deb has used the spots as centres for the flowers on her art journal page and strips of the unaltered patterned paper were used to create the border.

Izabella has used scrappaper, cut it into strips and put together a "checkered"
and has used as a base for a card

Prize offered by Jan
Decoupage papers & Frame, Crochet flowers, Ribbons, trims and Buttons.

You have until midnight 30th April
(Sydney Australia time - there's a clock on the top sidebar)
